Seventeen species of Chromodoris and three species of Hypselodoris are described from the Indo-West Pacific, of which seven species of Chromodoris are new species. All species have a similar colour pattern typified by longitudinal black lines, bands or streaks on the dorsum. Scanning electron microscope studies of the radula of all species are presented and coloured illustrations of 15 species, including all the new species are included. Fifteen species belong to the C. quadricolor colour group (Rudman, 1977). The species misidenlided as C. etisabethina by Rudman (1977) is described as new as are two other species with very similar colour patterns. Chromodoris elisabtthina and C. annae are redescribed and considered to be distinct. Further information on the radulae of C. hamiltoni, C. quadricolor, C. africana and H. regina is presented as are full descriptions of C. magnifica, C. westraliensis and two new species. Another species, very similar in colour to C. africana is described but insufficient material is available to name it. Hypselodoris maritima is compared with H. nigrolineata and they are considered to be distinct. The former species is placed in Hypselodoris for the first time. Chromodoris lineolata and C. striatella, usually considered synonyms, are redescribed as distinct species. Another species, very similar in colour, is described as new.
