This report represents an extended version of the chapter on Invasive Alien Species of the Flemish State of the Environment report 2020. Invasive Alien Species represent a growing threat to biodiversity and ecosystem services in the region. This report describes the current situation of introductions and impact of alien species in Flanders and reviews current policy and management initiatives in prevention, rapid response and management building on a number of case studies. The report describes a number of specific problematic species for the conservation status of different habitat types. Finally, it formulates policy recommendations to better address invasive species in the region. The most important recommendations are:
