The present study describes the validation and adaptation of the Subtle and Blatant Prejudice Scale (SBPM) towards Maghrebis in the Spanish context and examines its relationship with other psychosocial variables. A Spanish sample of 797 participants from Madrid was used. The analyses were performed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis, mainly considering the statistical indexes Comparative Fit Index, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation, and Pearson Correlation. External validity of the scale was tested using variables such as Social Dominance Orientation (SDO), Empathic Concern, Warmth and Competence, and Intergroup Contact with Maghrebis. Results indicated that the SBPM scale showed adequate psychometric properties. The SBPM scale was found to correlate positively with SDO, while correlating negatively with the rest of the variables. Therefore, the results show that the SBPM scale can be used as a reliable measure to assess prejudiced attitudes towards Maghrebi immigrants in Spain. The implications of the psychosocial variables studied are discussed to promote the reduction of prejudice towards Maghrebi immigrants in the Spanish context.
