ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Biology Open, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Subhradip Das is first author on ‘ Caspar modulates primordial germ cell fate both in Oskar-dependent and Oskar-independent manner’, published in BiO. Subhradip conducted the research described in this article while a PhD scholar in Dr Girish Ratnaparkhi's lab at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, India. He is now a deputy research scientist in the lab of Dr Avijit Ghosh at GCC Biotech, Kolkata, India, investigating germline stem cells and post-translational modifications in early embryonic development.
