Abstract

From its humble origins as a fishing village to its rise as a British colony and its subsequent handover to China, Hong Kong has evolved dramatically over the years, blending Western influences with its Chinese roots to become a modern metropolis. It is in this complex and fascinating setting that I (ALZ), a rheumatology resident from Toronto, Canada, chose to spend the penultimate month of my residency on elective.
