Abstract

This article reviews Ba Wang Bian , a contemporary dance fusing ethnic traditions with modern movements, performed by Chinese dancer Maya Jilan Dong and produced by British artistic director Farooq Chaudhry. Through choreographic semiotics and kinesthetic discourse, this artwork embodies the Daoist articulation of feminine power, which derives from self-identification and somatic-ecological harmony.
