Abstract

In support of funders’ implementation of responsible research assessment, the Global Research Council’s (GRC) Responsible Research Assessment (RRA) Working Group, in collaboration with the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), has developed a self‑assessment tool for research funders.The diagnostic tool enables research funders to self-assess their processes and plan for more structured implementation of RRA aligned with global best practices. It is intended to be flexible and adaptable, recognising the diversity of local contexts, mandates, and organisational priorities across funding organisations. The tool was launched at the GRC Annual Meeting in May 2026.The GRC acknowledges the members and past members of the Responsible Research Assessment Working Group, the GRC Executive Support Group, other GRC working groups, and colleagues across the global research funding community for their engagement and contributions.
