This study aims to highlight previously overlooked aspects in the reception history of Georg von Charasoff’s works, clarify their background and evaluate their theoretical significance and limits. First, it mathematically reformulates Charasoff’s “truly scientific” understanding of Marx’s law of value as it was highly acknowledged by Karl Korsch. Second, following Korsch’s recommendation of Charasoff’s book Karl Marx to Roman Rosdolsky, who was working on Otto Bauer’s theory on “false rationalisation,” the study clarifies Charasoff’s relevance to this theory. Finally, it attempts to analytically reformulate Charasoff’s comprehensive theoretical conception on technical change, which was so far widely overlooked by most receptions.
