Descriptions of the free-living fungi Entopeltacites mexicanus sp. nov. and Phagomycetus dominicanus gen. et sp., nov. are provided. The former fungus serves as a source of nutrition for the nematode Oligaphelenchoides atrebora in Mexican amber and the latter fungus serves as a source of nutrition for Sialomorpha dominicana in Dominican amber. The manner of obtaining nutrients from the above fungi differs, since the the nematode (O. atrebora) penetrates the fungal hyphae with its stylet while the sialomorph (S. dominicana) removes and ingests sporangia and sporangiospores with its mandibles. A mycophagus bacterium was discovered infecting a spore of the nematode parasitic fungus. This is the first record of a fossil bacterium infecting a fungal spore.
