Abstract

Abstract This work reports a breakthrough strategy of incorporating trace TiC-TiB2 nanoparticles into extruded AZ91 alloy, thereby achieving extraordinary superplastic elongation of over 600% at 300 °C and a strain rate of 1×10-3 s-1. This nanoparticle-assisted strategy breaks through the bottleneck of magnesium alloy processing formability, enabling low-cost manufacturing of complex lightweight structural components, making magnesium alloys a cost-competitive alternative to aluminum alloys.
