OBJECTIVE: To analyse the presence of women on the boards of directors of Spanish dental scientific societies affiliated with the General Council of Dentists of Spain, based on those for which information was available, from their establishment to December 2025. METHOD: A descriptive study based on a documentary review of public sources (official websites, minutes and reports) was conducted. Of the 29 affiliated societies, valid information was obtained for 15 (51.7%), which constituted the study sample. The term of office, type of position and gender of the office holder were recorded. A descriptive analysis was performed using absolute frequencies and percentages. RESULTS: A total of 1496 positions were analysed, of which 287 (19.18%) were held by women. In recent periods, female representation reached 34.62%, increasing to 38.46% in 2025. Female participation was higher in intermediate positions and lower in presidencies (9.36%). CONCLUSIONS: The presence of women has increased in recent years, in parallel with the feminisation of the profession; however, relevant inequalities persist, particularly in top leadership positions. Results should be interpreted with caution due to potential selection bias.
