Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that has a substantial associated global public health burden (Griffiths et al, 2021). Adiposity is prevalent among individuals with psoriasis, particularly those with more severe disease, and evidence suggests a risk-increasing causal relationship between adiposity and psoriasis. First, increasing body mass index, waist circumference, and waist-to-hip ratio have been shown to be associated with increased psoriasis risk in large population-based studies (Snekvik et al, 2017).
