A recent scientific expedition held in Gunung Arong Forest Reserve (GAFR) in Mersing, Johor, Peninsular Malaysia was conducted to document the species richness of Orthoptera. This survey aimed to fill knowledge gaps in Orthoptera from Malay Peninsula, in which traditionally little is known for Johor state compared to Pahang state in the north and Singapore to the south. Opportunistic surveys along selected trails culminated in a total of 62 taxa representing 12 families. Our study revealed a wider distribution for some species thought to be endemic to Singapore— Singapuriola , Ectatoderus angusticollis Chopard, 1969, Ornebius xinyao Tan, 2015, and Cesasundana lorniensis Tan, 2014. Likewise, Odontogryllodes undatus Tan, Muhammad & Abdullah, 2024 and Parendacustes (Parendacustes) aduncus Tan, Muhammad & Gorochov, 2024 are two species only recently discovered from Panti Forest Reserve that were also found in GAFR.
