In the summer of 2023 and 2024, severe anthracnose and crown rot symptoms were observed in strawberry plants in San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico. The fungi recovered from diseased plants were identified by morphology and multilocus sequence identification as Colletotrichum fioriniae. The pathogenicity of the isolates was confirmed by inoculating a conidial suspension on healthy strawberry plants. This is the first report of C. fioriniae causing anthracnose and crown rot of strawberries in Mexico. Anthracnose and crown rot are significant diseases in strawberry plantations in Baja California, Mexico; therefore, additional studies are needed to establish effective management strategies.
