Abstract

This study aims at assessing the impact of the implementation of Didactic Audiovisual Translation (DAT) in an eTwinning project for teaching English as a foreign language in Compulsory Secondary Education. For this purpose, DAT was integrated into the project titled Connecting Cultures through Podcasts to determine whether DAT integration improved the digital competence (DC) and cultural awareness and expression competence (CAEC) of the participating students (n = 5). Through a qualitative analysis of the information collected through semi-structured interviews, it was found that the majority of learners consider that their DC has improved. Nevertheless, the participants do not feel that their CAEC has evolved significantly, although they would participate in other eTwinning projects, especially if they could enjoy more direct contact with the other participants to learn more about the target culture.
