Abstract

We investigated how the visual features of action consequences, like the trajectory of a thrown ball, influence the brain's ability to adapt motor skills in changing contexts. We show that perturbations mimicking real-world accelerations enable context-specific adaptation, unlike visuomotor rotations. In addition, we found that visual environment context can modulate early implicit motor behavior but does not affect the propensity for updating existing internal models during motor learning.
