Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a large-vessel vasculitis that affects individuals over the age of 50 and predominantly women in their 70s.<sup>1</sup> The estimated pooled incidence of GCA is approximately 10 per 100,000 persons aged 50 years or older, with a higher incidence of 20-25 per 100,000 seen in Scandinavian countries and other northern countries, including Canada.<sup>2-4</sup>
