Abstract The Convergence Science: Indigenous Weather, Water and Climate Knowledge Systems, Practices and Communities Symposium at the 2023 and 2024 American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Annual Meetings showcased the ongoing efforts of Indigenous communities to anticipate, prepare for, and adapt to changing weather, water, and climate conditions. The symposiums’ sessions focused on the relationship of traditional Indigenous wisdom with other scientific approaches and valuing knowledge from across generations and ensuring that both practices and knowledge are preserved. The symposium also focused on identifying opportunities for AMS members and the society as a whole to engage in the emerging arena of convergence science to address changing weather, water, and climate conditions. Building on the discussions and insights shared, it is imperative to outline tangible next steps for translating ideas into action and implementing convergence science in practice. This short feature captures key outcomes from this ongoing conversation within AMS and shares recommendations and proposed next steps to create a call to action to the AMS community for considerations around convergence science and collaborations that engage with Indigenous knowledges and scientific methodologies and settler colonial scientific methodologies. Significance Statement A collaboration of intergenerational scientists and community leaders came together through the Rising Voices Center for Indigenous and Earth Sciences for the Convergence Science: Indigenous Weather, Water and Climate Knowledge Systems, Practices and Communities Symposium at the 2023 and 2024 American Meteorological Society’s Annual Meeting. The group developed a manuscript to capture key outcomes from this ongoing conversation within AMS, share recommendations, and propose next steps to the AMS community. The purpose of the manuscript and recommendations is to create a call to action to the AMS community for considerations around convergence science and collaborations that engage with Indigenous knowledges and scientific methodologies and settler colonial scientific methodologies.
