Briefly stated, this paper is about practicing social science in a different way, using concepts from anthropology. The study has at its core two distinct and disconnected approaches to scholarly boundaries. On the one hand, there is a historical and existing in practice approach, in which a commonly understood notion of boundary represents an essential element for describing the way science is organized. On the other hand, particularizing two abstract formulations, the text puts the basis for several lines of enquiry in order to distinguish elements of a new, anthropological perspective on scholarly boundaries. A tentative vision based on anthropological work of what may be termed as a poly-scholarly world is presented in the final part of the paper.
