Food insecurity is now a concern for both rich and poor countries alike. In 2014, the European Union created the European Fund for Aid to the Most Deprived. This article focuses on the case of France. In response to the growing number of people affected, food aid has been put in place, often on the initiative of charitable organizations. After a foreword outlining the general context, in which the question of food insecurity is discussed, Pascale Hébel defines this insecurity and the populations affected based on recent statistical surveys. Guillaume Garot then presents his vision of the public policies to be implemented to the French Academy of Agriculture.
