Abstract Cormura brevirostris (Wagner, 1843) is widely distributed across Central and northern South America but remains underrepresented in surveys and collections. We report the first record of this species in Acre, northern Brazil, based on a specimen from the Museu de Zoologia, Universidade de São Paulo, collected near the Juruá River in Rodrigues Alves. This finding extends its known range by approximately 400 km northeast and contributes to understanding its distribution in the southwestern Amazon. Additionally, we provide measurements from other Central and South American specimens and present an updated distribution map of the species in the Neotropics.
