This preprint proposes a general stability boundary condition for complex adaptive systems. It formulates the hypothesis that stability approaches zero when structural compression and systemic pressure increase without a corresponding growth of adaptive resonance. The formulation connects Ashby’s Law of Requisite Variety, May–Wigner network stability theory, and thermodynamic dissipation principles.
