Abstract

In this article, the authors give prominence to the interest of the floras of the Greek islands. After describing datas and main caracteristics of different groups of islands and archipelagos (Ionian islands, Peloponnisos, Southern Aegean area, Central Aegean area, Western Aegean area, Eastern Aegean area, Northern Aegean area), the Greek flora’s problems on biogeograph, biosystematics, conservation and management are pointed out. They are concluding with a discussion concerning the knowledge and the conservation of the islands’ flora and the necessity to educate populations to preserve this natural inheritance.
