Abstract

This dataset contains the data of our paper (preprint version, link to reviewed version to come) on mainland Afrotropical Eucerotinae wasps. It includes data on the specimens examined and on CO1 barcode sequences of eucerotines. It also includes the updated data matrix of eucerotine character traits of Gauld and Wahl (2002). In this data, our new species has been written as Euceros species 1. The final published name can be obtained from the published article (and may also be updated to a new version of this dataset after publication of the article). The dataset contains: 20250531UgandaEucerotinaedata.csv The complete data of the examined Ugandan individuals. In "Kotka" format as stored in the Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility: two headers, followed by each wasp on its own row. AfrotropicalEucerotinaeCO1.fasta CO1 barcode sequences of African Eucerotinae. In fasta format. Includes four barcodes: Ugandan paratype of our new species (http://mus.utu.fi/ZMUT.28249), Cameroonian non-type specimen of our new species (holotype THNMP000391), Euceros madecassus ("Ichneumonidaecluster321" from Miraldo et al. 2024), Euceros madecassus ("JF963331.1" from GenBank, Sayers et al. 2025). AfrotropicalEucerotinaedata.csv The basic data of the Ugandan and Cameroonian Eucerotinae specimens we examined. Repositories are: ZMUT Zoological Museum of the University of Turku; NHMUK Natural History Museum, London, UK. More complete (though less readable) data for the Ugandan specimens is in "20250531UgandaEucerotinaecompletedata.csv". characterstatesGauldandWahl.csv Description of the character states used by Gauld and Wahl (2002) in their data matrix of Eucerotinae. Descriptions copied from Gauld and Wahl (2002), saved as a table for more easy reference. We have corrected one or two mistypes. datamatrixGauldandWahl.csv Data matrix of Eucerotinae character traits from Gauld and Wahl (2002). In csv format so it can be easier read and used in programs. What the different characters and states are is explained in "characterstatesGauldandWahl.csv". We added our new species as E. species 1. The original data matrix contained one mistake, for Euceros gilvus: characters #10-19 had only nine entries, so one entry is missing. Since all except character #19 were 0, we assumed that the missing state is also 0. ReadMe.md ReadMe file with the same information as here. References Gauld ID, Wahl DB 2002.
