Abstract

Discourse formulation encompasses enunciative, modal and argumentative aspects. In his/her search to express his communicative intention, the speaker resorts to elements that modify his/her subjective attitude and seeks to provoke an effect on the receiver to ensure the correct functioning of the interaction. Since these are mechanisms that act strategically, they are more difficult for a student of Spanish as a foreign language to acquire. Based on a corpus of conversations with learners of Spanish (PRACOMUL), we have analyzed the use of formulaic elements on their part, focusing on those that point out characteristics of the utterance or of the speaker, attenuators and approximatives, or those that establish assertive reinforcement or enunciative distance. The result of the study shows the multidimensionality inherent to discursive phenomena, so that enunciation, modality, approximation or enunciative distance act in a combined way causing attenuating or intensifying effects of the assertion.
