Knowledge production and its timely dissemination are central to shaping a state’s geopolitical standing and projecting its intellectual influence internationally. However, countries affected by armed conflict face severe challenges in sustaining research activities and maintaining the infrastructure required for effective scholarly communication. While international support for research has established mechanisms, initiatives tailored at sustaining scholarly communication remain fragmented. Using Ukraine as a case study, this poster presents a comprehensive mapping of international initiatives supporting scholarly communication from 2022 to 2026. We identified a number of initiatives launched by international foundations, publishers, grassroots organizations, and global research infrastructure networks. These initiatives were grouped into thematic categories addressing various aspects, including the preservation of digital archives of national journals, enhancement of journal visibility and indexing, provision of financial and infrastructural support, establishment of training and cross-border mentorship networks, and programmes that facilitate researchers’ access to scientific literature through initiatives such as Research4Life. The poster provides a holistic mapping of actors, interventions, and remaining gaps, offering a framework for supporting scientific communication that may inform strategies in other countries affected by or recovering from conflict.
