Abstract

Chain length controls fate in Ru-catalyzed cross-metathesis of alkenyl phosphates: vinyl triggers Ru-carbide via proton-coupled phosphate elimination, whereas allyl/butenyl tethers restore productive CM. DFT rationalizes the switch.
