The concept of cultural humility has emerged as an instrumental paradigm to promote global learning. This study aims to track the emergence of cultural humility and identify its applications in the scholarship of global exchanges, including international travel and virtual exchanges. To examine the full body of literature we utilized a scoping review of electronic databases (ProQuest Education, ERIC, and Google Scholar) exploring 4,920 scientific papers across disciplines incorporating the use of cultural humility from 1998–2023. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 86 papers were identified for analysis. This scoping review highlights the geographic distribution of the concept's use (primarily in the Global North), the disciplinary distribution of studies (primarily from health education), and the research methods (primarily qualitative). This scoping review provides an expansive review of the literature related to cultural humility in global exchange and identifies gaps for future research.
