How does a professional society address political crises that threaten the field and members it represents, the organizations and communities it serves, and the projects they have committed to? Reasonable minds can and will disagree, although most will concede that the answer is far from obvious. In this short essay statement to the membership, I attempt to articulate the current will of the Society for Applied Anthropology’s Board of Directors in early 2025, and a vision for a society that promotes a multipronged approach to addressing multifaceted crises with the range of anthropological research, methodologies, and applications. Collectively, we have what it takes to meet this moment and more.
