[Inicio] The Syrian conflict, which began in March 2011 after an antigovernment protest (1) and culminated in the collapse of the Assad regime on 8 December 2024 (2), had profound social and environmental consequences. Beyond its devastating effects on human lives, the war has disrupted vital infrastructure, degraded natural resources, and decimated ecosystems. To address the damage, the international community should provide social, environmental, and economic assistance to the transitional government that emerged from December’s offensive by revolutionaries.
