Abstract

The position statement of the Committee on Human Nutrition Science, Polish Academy of Sciences is based on guidelines and positions drafted by scientific societies, reputable institutions, and teams of experts, including the WHO (World Health Organization), ESPGHAN (European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition), AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics), EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), and the National Center for Nutrition Education in Poland. With respect to the aforementioned documents and the possibility of their adaptation in Polish conditions, as well as on the basis of a review of the current literature on nutrition of preschool and early school-age children and the results of scientific research in this area conducted in Poland, the experts (members of the Task Force for Children and Adolescents Nutrition of the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Committee on Human Nutrition Science) developed nutritional recommendations for preschool and early school-age children.
