Abstract

Abstract Three fractions of fluorine were measured in a variety of Pennsylvania soils using a fluoride electrode. Mean total, soluble and resin‐extractable F values for 55 samples were 377±27, 0.38±0.5 and 21.7±1.6 ppm, respectively, in a variety of soils typical of the Piedmont and Triassic Lowlands of southeastern Pennsylvania. Each of the F fractions was related to soil pH. Selected soils were leached with a standard F solution and found to retain substantial amounts of F.
