We extend Verlinde gravity formalism to nonspherically symmetric case and apply it to calculate the gravitational acceleration near, but above the surface of Earth. We predict the violation of equivalence principle, and obtain [Formula: see text] for gold and aluminum, which agrees with [Formula: see text] obtained by an experiment conducted in 1964. We also obtained [Formula: see text] for beryllium and titanium, which agrees with [Formula: see text] obtained by an experiment conducted in 2007. Finally, we suggest that this experiment in 2007 be repeated with beryllium or titanium replaced by silver or gold, which would make [Formula: see text] enough big to confirm the violation of the equivalence principle.
