On November 18, 19, and 20, 2025, what turned out to be a lively thread on the social media platform, Bluesky, raised some questions about when and how the historicity of the 12th-century female medical practitioner, Trota of Salerno, was recovered by modern scholarship. This timeline captures the main turning points. Now that a complete set of (negative) photographs of the famous Breslau Codex (or "Codex Salernitanus") have been recovered, it is now possible to retrieve even more of Trota's work and better contextualize the significance of Salernitan medicine in the late 11th, 12th, and early 13th century, and its spread throughout Europe--taking Trota's fame with it.
