Abstract

Wildfires do not only respond to external wind – they generate their own. This fire-induced wind can alter flame structure, accelerate spread and contribute to extreme events, yet it remains poorly measured and modelled. The editorial calls for coordinated experiments and fully-physical simulations to quantify it.
