This paper discusses attempts to numerically compute the effects of hard thermal loops in non-abelian gauge theories at finite temperature by means of solutions of Heinz' transport equation for an ensemble of classical colored particles interacting with a real-time lattice gauge field. Results for the real-time response functions and the Chern-Simons number diffusion rate in the unbroken SU(2) guage theory are presented.
