Dyslipidemia is a major contributor to various metabolic, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular diseases. A critical component of dyslipidemia management involves lifestyle modifications, including adherence to healthy dietary patterns, alongside pharmacological interventions such as statin therapy. Polyphenols, found in plant-based foods such as fruits and vegetables, have marked antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective effects, making them increasingly popular for managing dyslipidemia. In response to the growing consumer awareness, food supplements containing supra-dietary doses of polyphenols have gained popularity as adjuncts to healthy dietary practices. However, the concurrent use of these supplements with statins may pose potential health risks due to pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions.
