Protection of vegetables cropping systems relies on pesticides which have a negative impact on the environment. The BREIZHECOLEG system experiment, which follows Breizleg project, is a DEPHY EXPE Ecophyto project. The aim is to enable farmers to reduce pesticides without impacting the sustainability of the system. An input low culture system (- 46 % TFI) and an input ultra-low system (- 79 % TFI) are compared to a reference system. In OA, an innovative system, where the work time andthe drudgery (factors supposed to limit the conversion to OA) had to be reduced, is compared to a reference OA system. About conventional system, the TFI targets were achieved without increasing GHG emissions and work time. However, the reference system presents the best economic results thanks to better yield. Nevertheless, this system is not sustainable because of pesticides used which would be banned soon. The reduction of treatments is practicable on cabbages and artichokes unlike lettuces and shallots. In OA, no differences are observed between the two systems, proving that it is hard to reduce work time and drudgery. Efficient levers and decisions rules have been used and must now be broadcasted to farmers. Levers at system scale but also at the sector scale must be set up to reduce the use of pesticides.
