Abstract

ABSTRACT Countries' national endemic flora is a dataset that show the knowledge level of both local vegetation types and flora. Ivorian vegetation and flora are known as well through many botanists and ecologists since the last century. The country experiences 8 main vegetation types and hosts 3853 taxa of vascular plants among which around 70–80 were cited more than 40 years ago as endemic to the territory. The aim of this paper is to use the current botanical skills to revise the composition and distribution of the vascular plants remaining endemic to Côte d'Ivoire. After extraction of taxa that became synonyms to others and those that have been found in other countries along time, the current Ivorian endemic flora is rich of 23 Angiosperms species and two varieties belonging to 19 genera and 16 families dominated by Sapotaceae family with 3 species. This endemic flora spreads as well into the 8 main vegetation types but is mostly distributed into the four evergreen forest types.
