A partir d'un extrait du Temps retrouvé dans lequel le narrateur esquisse les contours de son œuvre à venir à l’aide d’une longue série de comparaisons, l'article analyse d’abord les caractéristiques linguistiques de la comparaison, pour ensuite fournir une interprétation des enjeux narratifs et esthétiques liés au choix des comparants ainsi qu’à la préfiguration du livre du narrateur. Il revient, pour finir, sur la conception proustienne de la métaphore, constituant tout à la fois le processus ontologique et le procédé scriptural au fondement de La Recherche. Abstract Using an excerpt from Le Temps retrouvé in which the narrator outlines the contours of his future work with the help of a long series of comparisons, the article first analyzes the linguistic characteristics of the comparison, and then provides an interpretation of the narrative and aesthetic stakes involved in the choice of comparants as well as in the prefiguration of the narrator's book. Finally, it returns to Proust's conception of metaphor as both the ontological process and the scriptural procedure at the heart of La Recherche.
