This paper explores the meanings and forms of terms through a case study of the titles assigned to the Commissioner for Human Rights and their deputies. It takes into account a range of factors, including the use of borrowed and native forms in different social and linguistic contexts, specialized legal language, and the social and political context in which the terms are used. This article provides translation equivalents for Polish-Hungarian language pairs, comparing the equivalents based on a focus on the culture of the source and target languages as well as the needs of the recipients. Additionally, a parametric method is applied to organize the characteristics of terms, and to determine when specific features of the selected terms may be required in the translation process.
