Maximal subfields of a division algebra

Abstract

Let D be a division algebra over a field F. In this paper, we prove that there exist a,b,x,y∈ D^* such that F(ab-ba) and F(xyx^-1y^-1) are maximal subfields of D, which answers questions posted in [5].
