The cross section asymmetry Σ in deuteron disintegration with linearly polarized light is considered in the framework of the Bethe-Salpeter formalism. Relativistic contributions to the asymmetry are investigated within the approximation, which takes into account the one-body part of the electromagnetic current operator and the dominant positive-energy partial amplitudes of the Bethe-Salpeter vertex function of the deuteron.
