Abstract

We give a K-theoretic criterion for a quasi-projective variety to be smooth. If \mathbbL is a line bundle corresponding to an ample invertible sheaf on X, it suffices that Kq(X) = Kq(\mathbbL) for all q≤dim(X)+1.
