Abstract

Social work, because it is rooted in practice, can't be satisfied with knowledge systems derived from the classical sciences, which, in principle, denied any legitimacy to knowledge from situated experiences. To renew the critique of the primacy of theory over practice presupposes a proportion of indiscipline with regard to established dogmas. The approach involves returning to the barriers in the sciences that prevent the search for new articulations between a diversity of knowledge and a diversity of actors, academics, professionals and 'ordinary' citizens.
