Abstract

The practice of women's basketball has grown in recent years, increasing the level of professionalisation and the available scientific evidence. Despite this, there is an apparent need to implement state-of-the-art methods and techniques in women's basketball. This may be due to the difference in economic investment compared to their male counterparts. For this reason, it is necessary to generate specific scientific knowledge in the field of women's basketball, at different competitive levels and age groups, with the aim of improving the training and recovery process, increasing performance and reducing the likelihood of injury. This research project aims to quantify the external and internal load in competition and training in adult and young female basketball players. Implementing new technologies to collect data on the physical demand and physiological response to training and competition sessions could be of interest to the scientific community, coaches and physical trainers. This would allow to understand the impact of different variables on the load, thus allowing to optimise the training process, provoking the desired adaptations and facilitating the management of the risk of suffering injuries. This study presents a pre-post quasi-experimental design. The nature of the study will be descriptive, comparative, correlational, multivariate, retrospective and transversal, studying a sample selected by convenience of young and adult female players. The variables to be studied are classified as: 1) independent: role of the player (starter or non-starter), position (base, small outside, large outside and inside) and type of task (number of participants, number of simultaneous performers, space used, total time, number of interruptions and duration of pauses); 2) dependent variables: external and internal load and movement analysis. This study will be carried out in accordance with the ethical principles for biomedical research, as well as the current regulations on data protection and privacy of the subjects.
