This essay, parts of which were initially delivered at the annual Indigenous art gathering aabaakwad in December 2024 at the University of Toronto, offers three contributions to the historiography of Gaza. First, it confronts the challenge of narrating a collective subjected to genocide. Second, it examines the history of Palestinian demonology through the activities of Hilmi Abu Shaban. And third, it returns the history of Palestine on an international scale, with reference to Muin Bseiso. The author’s family is mentioned throughout. This essay is the beginning of a larger effort to reconnect Gaza to the world, Arab and otherwise, that it has long been a part of.
