In the seismological field, real-time data transmission is essential for seismic monitoring, as it allows operators and early warning systems to quickly detect seismic events and assess their magnitude, location and potential impact. This immediate flow of information is crucial to promptly activate civil protection measures, such as evacuation of risk areas, suspension of sensitive infrastructures (e.g. railway lines or power plants), and to provide reliable updates to the population and the media. Furthermore, the continuous availability of real-time data allows monitoring centers to perform automatic analyses, refine forecasting models and improve understanding of the seismic phenomenon. A network protocol used for real-time data transmission, especially for seismic data, is SeedLink, which represents a standard for data exchange between data acquisition systems and research centers. However, some older data acquisition systems do not use it, requiring the use of plugins to adapt the protocols. This work focuses on the integration of the REF TEK 130 data acquisition system, which uses the proprietary REF TEK Protocol, with a microcomputer to convert data into SeedLink format [Rao, 2014]. The major obstacle to achieve the goal was to make software compiled for different hardware architectures coexist in a single Single Board Computer. The results showed reliable operation and full compatibility with SeedLink clients, although the introduction of a new device caused an increase in power consumption of about 2W. In conclusion, the proposed system is an effective solution to integrate non-SeedLink compatible seismic acquisition systems. For stations powered by renewable sources, it may be necessary to evaluate and resize the photovoltaic system and batteries due to the increased power absorption.
