From Pythia simulations of pp collisions we determine the mean transverse momentum <Pt> of partons producing the leading and associated particles studied in di-hadron correlations. The dependence of <Pt> on the associated particle transverse momentum and expected differences at RHIC and LHC centre of mass energies are discussed.
