Aim of the rehabilitation following bladder cancer surgery is the treatment of therapy side effects to rebuild/preserve quality of life. We evaluated the effectiveness of an integral neobladder-rehabilitation program. Patients after radical cystectomy with neobladder construction completed a specific therapy standard during their inpatient rehabilitation. They completed the 6-minute walking test to objectify physical capacity and the urinary loss was documented by the 24-hour pad test. Both tests were completed at the beginning (t0) and the end (t1) of their inpatient stay. The FBK-R23 questionnaire was used to screen for psychooncological burden. The results of 125 patients could be analyzed. The 6-minute walking distance increased significantly (p<0,001) from 484 m (±82) (t0) to 548 m (±84) (t1). The urinary loss decreased from 545 g (±575) to 343 g (±450) also significantly (p>0,001). The FBK-R23 showed a prevalence of 30 patients (24%) with psychooncological burden. This study showed that an integral neobladder-rehabilitation program increases physical capacity and improves urinary incontinence.
